The Urban and Socio-Environmental Transformations Research Hub (USET) focuses on urban studies, socio-environmental issues, sustainable finance, economic resilience and the interactions between tourism activities and territories.
A high degree of interdisciplinarity is essential to tackle these fields of research. The 100 researchers at USET have not been brought together on the basis of their disciplines, but because they share the same research subject. We are therefore dealing with an interdisciplinary approach that is also inevitably an inter-faculty one.
Building on a long-standing partnership between Brussels' two main universities, USET marks a new stage in the integration process, strengthening ULB-VUB's collective research, teaching and dissemination capabilities in these fields.
Located on the Usquare site, USET offers over a hundred researchers from the two universities an environment that favours day-to-day collaboration, enabling the emergence and strengthening of joint projects in the spheres of research and teaching, including joint interdisciplinary master’s degrees.
